Australian Icon Celebrates Seventy Years
This week Bonds lauched the 'Wear Australia 26.01.08' charity campaign with the Sarah Murdoch the star of the night.

On Tuesday night Bonds, Australia’s most iconic underwear and clothing brand, started the celebrations for Chesty singlet’s upcoming 70th anniversary this summer with the launch of a charity campaign and photographic exhibition.

To commemorate the iconic Chesty's milestone of making it to seventy, Bonds has developed the ‘Wear Australia 26.01.08' charity campaign. For this they have already embarked on a photographic tour of Australia, capturing Aussies in their Chestys.

The exhibition heroes unique characters from all walks of life captured in this tour - from remote rural landscapes to urban sprawls - and the launch held at The Glenmore Hotel in The Rocks showcased Australian celebrities including Bonds ambassador Sarah Murdoch (effortlessly making a Bonds Chesty look glamorous) and Bonds General Manager, Kate Hann, all there to celebrate this true Australian legend.

The shots from the Wear Australia campaign have also featured in outdoor media across the nation, encouraging Aussies to buy a Bonds Chesty and wear it proudly this Australia Day. The funds raised from these sales will go towards Surf Life Saving Australia to develop a vital surf skills program to take to all Australian primary schools.

To check out the photographic images and learn more about the surf skills program go to www.bonds.com.au/wearaustralia

Some interesting facts you can share with your friends on Australia Day about the Bonds Chesty? In 1960 the 50th million singlet was sold, in 1972 the 100th million, in 1983 the 150th million and in 1990 the 250th million. I wonder how high we can get this figure for 2008?

What's What would like to wish all, including the Bonds Chesty, a very special Australia Day in 2008.

Westfield Group To Reacquire Interest in the World Trade Center site
Making headlines worldwide is news that the Westfield Group have announced signing a letter of intent to redevelop the World Trade Center site in New York.

The Westfield Group recently announced that it has entered into a Letter of Intent with The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to reacquire an interest in the retail premises at the World Trade Center site.

The Letter of Intent is the culmination of several years of cooperation between the Port Authority and Westfield.  Under the terms of the transaction, Westfield and the Port Authority will form a joint venture to own the retail facilities, with Westfield responsible for management and leasing for the joint venture.  Westfield will invest up to US$625 million in development costs.  The transaction is subject to completion of legal documentation, due diligence and required approvals.

“We are excited to be back,” said Westfield Group Managing Director Peter Lowy.  “We always wanted to be a part of the revitalization of this historic site once the plans were finalized.  With the Port Authority, we look forward to creating a world-class, iconic shopping destination for Lower Manhattan.”

Plans for the retail premises currently include approximately 488,000 square feet of GLA spread across multiple levels, with the primary retail space located in the new transit terminal designed by Santiago Calatrava, and at street level.

Westfield originally acquired an interest in the retail facilities at the World Trade Center in July, 2001.  In December 2003, Westfield sold its interest in the World Trade Center retail premises to the Port Authority to help simplify the rebuilding process by avoiding the inherent conflict between its commercial/lease rights and the interests of the public.

As part of its global portfolio, Westfield has designed and developed award winning shopping centers in landmark cities around the world.  Among the company’s most recent retail icons are:  Westfield Bondi Junction, Sydney, Australia; Westfield San Francisco Centre in San Francisco; Westfield Century City in Los Angeles; Westfield London (opening fall 2008); Westfield Stratford City, also in the United Kingdom and adjacent to the site of the 2012 Olympic Games (opening 2011); and Westfield Sydney City (opening 2011.)

Green Really Does Rule Right Now
The striking emerald green silk gown worn by Keira Knightley in Atonement has been voted the best film costume of all time, beating even Marilyn Monroe's iconic white dress from The Seven Year Itch, which came in at number two.

In a recent survey by Sky Movies and In Style magazine in the UK, the backless full-length silk gown featured in the film  Atonement (a romantic drama based on a novel by Ian McEwan of the same name, which is currently playing in Australian cinemas) was voted best film costume of all time, quite remarkable considering the quality of competition it had to make it to the top spot.

The triumphant ten from the survey are as follows:

1. Keira Knightley's green silk gown from Atonement

2. Marilyn Monroe's white dress from The Seven Year Itch

3. Audrey Hepburn’s little black Givenchy dress from Breakfast at Tiffany's

4. Olivia Newtown-John’s skin-tight black pants from Grease

5. Kate Winslet’s ensemble from Titanic

6. Diane Keaton's tie and waistcoat in Annie Hall

7. Nicole Kidman's satin corset from Moulin Rouge

8. Liza Minnelli's stockings and bowler hat in Cabaret

9. Cate Blanchett gown from Elizabeth: The Golden Age

10. Vivien Leigh's dresses from Gone With The Wind
